NewsSri Lanka Ports Authority has inititated investigations regarding the fire that broke early this week at the Colombo port premises, a statement said. Denying the media reports suggesting that a fire broke out at the Eastern Terminal of the Colombo port early this week, the Ministry of Ports and Shipping said the said fire broke out at the Colombo Port’s Hyundai private site at around 1.30pm. These rubber tubes are used to pump sand to the land from the sea.There was no disturbance for the day to day activities of the Sri Lankan Ports Authority or for the Colombo Port terminals," a statement from the ministry said. According to the authrority, the private site is located outside the shipping operation area of the Colombo Port. "Not a property of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority is lost or no personal injuries were reported due to the fire,"
