Medical innovation , specifically, is needed to address the challenges of a growing disease burden and discover new, effective medicines to meet unmet patient needs. In other words, India needs to promote pro-innovation policies to generate long-term benefits of patient health in India. There is an urgent need for such policies to be a part of the system to ensure timely access to the latest medical innovations and medical treatments. The fact is that innovation is the backbone of the care giving medical fraternity, and innovation needs a collaborative effort. All of us — the government, policy makers, caregivers, the biopharma and medical device industries, and the patients -- need to collaborate to nurture, not stifle, life sciences innovation.
