Pro-BNP lawyer Rezaul Islam yesterday filed the case with the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakar Siddique, which directed the Police Bureau of Investigation to investigate the incident and submit a report. In the case statement, the complainant introduced himself as an active member of BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum (Chattogram unit), United Lawyers' Front, and BNP's Legal Committee for Chattogram north district. Multiple attempts to contact Imtiaz Reza Chowdhury, lawyer of Rezaul, were unsuccessful. Contacted, Chattogram District Bar Association President Abdus Sattar said, "I'm unaware of the case filed against the journalists, but Rezaul is a BNP man."
