Private ski club runs big surplus, buys new snow-making gear, largely thanks to federal COVID relief

Mansfield Ski Club in Mulmur, Ont., about 100 kilometres northwest of Toronto, enjoyed a banner 2020-21 fiscal year, according to financial statements obtained by CBC News. There's no indication that Mansfield Ski Club broke any rules in the qualification for, or the use of, the CEWS program. The private club has purchased new snow-making equipment after federal pandemic wage support helped create a hefty budget surplus. "It helped privileged members of a private ski club avoid the capital expenditures they would have otherwise had to pay directly for." The sun sets behind the slopes of Mansfield Ski Club.
