A section of prisoners at Kamiti Maximum prisons on Thursday staged protest and riot over claims of new punitive measures introduced by authorities. According to a source that spoke to the Star, the prisoners are saying they can't be locked inside all day and night just because three of them escaped custody. New PS Safina Kwekwe toured the prison on Tuesday to assess the progress of the facility since the controversial escape of the three terror convicts. President Uhuru Kenyatta made major changes including the sacking of Wycliffe Ogalo as the Commissioner-General of the Kenya Prisons Service. Kenyatta appointed Ogalo’s successor, Brigadier (Rtd) John Kibaso Warioba and also replaced the PS in charge of the correctional services.
