The deceased, Noor Islam, 55, son of Abdul Latif of Haji Mazar Slum of Tongi, Gazipur, was an accused in a narcotics case. On Thursday morning Latif suddenly fell ill. “We took him to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital and as his condition worsened he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital,” said Baharul Islam, jailer of Kashimpur Central Jail-2. “OnThursday afternoon, he was declared dead by the duty doctor,” added the official.
