Enter the formidable law professor, former police commissioner, former Solicitor-General of the House of Commons and current Victims' Commissioner for England and Wales Dame Vera Baird. To kick that process off, Dame Vera will be requesting an official meeting with the Met at some point post-December 12, after the British elections. The inaction of the Met in 2015 will reportedly also feature in the hour-long Virginia Roberts Giuffre documentary that the BBC will air on December 2. For her part, Dame Vera is a nationally respected legal mind who has written books about rape, abuse, and the treatment of the victims thereof. Dame Vera has not kicked into action yet, but whenever she does, her inquiries will be painstaking in the best sense.
