IT was reported that “The reopening of barbershops and hair salons... could see the price of services going up between RM5 and RM10 due to increases in the operating cost per customer” (“No scalping, just operating cost hike”, The Star, June 7; online at bit.ly/star_barbers). What about other operators and establishments that have been adhering to the SOP? If barbershops levy an additional charge because they have to adhere to the SOP, what about these other establishments and operators that have been adhering to the SOP? But the additional cost is part and parcel of doing business. Barbers and hair salons operators should be thankful they have been given the green light to earn some income now.
