Explaining that all state employees have received full salaries including overtime payments despite employees being at home, Minister of Highways and Chief Government Whip Johnston Fernando iterated that the Government is not bankrupt. “The previous Government was bankrupt, not us,” he exclaimed. These statements were made in response to a question posed by a journalist who asked the Minister if the Government was bankrupt. If we are unable to do so, that is when we can say that we are bankrupt. It is the previous Government that had monetary problems,” Fernando concluded.
