“The polls will be held between Feb 18 and 20,” Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda told the media after his meeting with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Wednesday. Lawmakers vote in the presidential election held in parliament, where the CEC will act as the election officer. Amid the Election Commission remaining tight-lipped after Law Minister Anisul Huq told the media that the polls were scheduled for Feb 19, Huda met Speaker Chaudhury to ‘discuss the overall preparations’. Hamid’s term expires on Apr 23, which means the election must be held between Jan 24 and Feb 23. In case of multiple candidates, the Election Commission will conduct the voting in parliament.
