Presidential Office denies report that the vice premier is on his way out

The Presidential Office on Friday denied a media report that President Tsai Ing-wen planned to replace the vice premier with her longtime confidante Ho Mei-yueh (何美玥). China Times Weekly (時報周刊) claimed that Vice Premier Lin Hsi-yao (林錫耀) was likely to be replaced by Ho, former Minister of Council for Economic Planning and Development and the president's close friend. President Office Spokesperson Sidney Lin (林鶴明) dismissed the report as "speculation based on false information." The Executive Yuan also repudiated the report, saying that there were no plans for a Cabinet reshuffle. Ho had worked with Tsai during former President Chen Shui-bian's administration and had a prominent role in managing the finances of Tsai's presidential campaigns, according to China Times Weekly.
