President to attend key economic meetings in Goa View(s):President Maithripala Sirisena will attend two key economic meetings in the western Indian coastal town of Goa next month. One is the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Trade and Economic Co-operation (BIMSTEC). The other is the BRICS, an economic grouping of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will travel to New Delhi from October 4 to 6 for the World Economic Forum meeting. President Sirisena leaves today for New York for the 71st session of the UN General Assembly.
