President Mohammed Sahabuddin paid tribute to the language martyrs by placing a wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar at the first hour of Amar Ekushey February, Language Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day. At 12:01am on Saturday (February 21), the president laid a wreath at the altar of the Shaheed Minar in memory of the brave martyrs of the Language Movement. After placing the wreath, he stood in silence for some time while a mournful tune was played on the bugle. Earlier, at 11:55pm, the president arrived at the Central Shaheed Minar premises, where he was received by the concerned authorities. Tight security measures were taken in and around the Shaheed Minar centering on the president’s arrival and the tribute ceremony.
