NewsThe production facility of Navesta Pharmaceuticals to manufacture Antibiotic injections was opened by President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday August 31 in Horana. Navesta Pharmaceuticals according to a statement released by the firm will primarily meet the local demand of 12 products in Penicillin category (antibiotic drugs that are a part of the Beta Lactam group of medicines) dry powder injectableNavesta Pharmaceuticals has invested Rs 1.4 billion for this facility and is the first ever sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Sri Lanka. The facility will manufacture 50 million vials for the government’s health sector. The production facility will provide employment opportunities for people with specialist knowledge on drug making and related fields. The first set of locally produced antibiotic drugs in the Penicillin category was handed over to President Sirisena by the Company Chairman Sanjaya Jayaratna.
