more-inThe President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, on Sunday called for a time-bound plan to reduce, if not eliminate, crop wastage in India. Union Minister of Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal is also seen. He added, "In particular, it should lead to a time-bound plan to reduce if not eliminate crop wastage in our country." Observing that “food is culture, but also commerce,” he said India’s food consumption, currently valued at $370 billion, is expected to reach $1 trillion by 2025. “There are opportunities across the entire food value chain in India – including post-harvest facilities, logistics, cold chains, and manufacturing,” he said, and asked the private sector to increase investments in the Indian food industry.
