President addresses criticism about gov't industry focusTAIPEI, Taiwan -- President Tsai Ing-wen has said the country will support both new and old industries. Her comments come after Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) founder Morris Chang appealed to the government not to neglect traditional industries. The president emphasized that the government would strive to prevent industrial conflicts when it came to energy usage and resource usage transformation, as well as industrial upgrading. The president's remarks will be seen by some as a response to criticism leveled earlier in the week by Chang. The corporate world sees us as leaning toward labor while labor thinks we are leaning toward corporate.
