CAIRO – 10 November 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received on Friday Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at Cairo International Airport. The two leaders will hold a summit in the Egyptian capital today, Egypt’s Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said in a statement. President Sisi and Sheikh Tamim will reportedly discuss the crisis of captives being held by Hamas amid the ongoing Israeli war in the Gaza Strip, which started on 7 October. An Egyptian-Qatari mediation late in October resulted in the release of two Israeli captives Nurit Yitzhak and Yocheved Lifshitz for humanitarian and health reasons. The Israeli retaliatory war has killed around 11,000 Palestinians and injured more than 26,000 others, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry on Thursday.
