Misrata Political Bloc (MPB) has strongly deplored the statement of UN-installed Presidency Council (PC) about the Friday protest in Tripoli and demanded it to retract it. In a statement on Saturday, the MPB, which is made up of lawmakers from the House of Representatives and High Council of State, demanded the PC to apologize to Libyan people and Misrata locals regarding the hate slogans and calls for violence raised in the protest. The lawmakers said they would suspend their contacts with the PC until it bears responsibilities towards such acts and carry out its duties according to the political agreement. Later, the Presidency Council issued a statement to condemn the dispersal of protesters and said it’s “violation of freedom of speech and peaceful demonstrations.”It also called the Attorney General to set up a probe into the incident and arrest those who dispersed the protesters.
