An official said Presidency registrar Debajyoti Konar had been apprised of the constitution of the search panel and asked to provide secretarial assistance to it. "The coming into force of the model code of conduct had left us hesitant about whether to constitute the search committee or not. The department is yet to post any notification on its website - www.wbhed.gov.in - about the constitution of the search committee. A university official said the committee would decide on its mode of search at the first meeting. Usually, soon after after a search committee is constituted, the members sound out potential candidates before meeting formally.
