Preserving Brazilian culture in Palmerston North through carnival


Fredrico Finau, 16 months, front centre, is part of the Brazilian kids' community group Palmeirinhos. A Palmerston North Brazilian cultural group is out to preserve the language and culture of the South American country in Manawatū. As part of the Festival of Cultures, the Brazilian kids' community group Palmeirinhos​ is holding a kids' carnival at the Palmerston North Library on Sunday from 2-3.30pm. One of the organisers, Fernande​ Loureiro,​ said there was a Brazilian presence in Palmerston North and they wanted their children to grow up experiencing their language and culture. The group encouraged people to immerse themselves in Brazilian culture.
