Preparations Finalized to Celebrate Grand Ethiopian Renaissance DamFebruary 15, 2017 - Preparation has been finalized to celebrate the 6th anniversary of the commencement of the construction of Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) with different fund raising programs, Office of the National Council for for the Coordination of Public Participation on the Construction of the Dam said, according to ENA. In connection with the anniversary, 11 types of fund raising programs will be implemented, Fikirte Tamr, deputy director general of the office told ENA. Since the launch of the project, the public has been supporting the construction of the dam through labor, knowledge and financial support. Running, football and bicycle competition, bond sale and art nights are among the programs intended to raise funds for the dam. The office has planned to raise 1.8 billion Birr from various sources, during this Ethiopian budget year, According to Fikirte.
