The Premier League will reportedly use thicker lines when determining VAR decisions next season as a response to the controversial marginal offside calls. The desire to remove the tightest offside calls follows how the Dutch FA use VAR. That system sees the VAR judge offsides using two 5cm lines and if they touch the final decision remains with the on-field officials. Football's lawmakers, the International Football Association Board, do not specify a maximum thickness for lines used to make VAR decisions, meaning it varies between countries who use the technology to aid officials. Premier League players and fans were often united in their fury last season at the long delays and incredibly tight nature of many VAR decisions.
