Both sides were involved in matches with controversial refereeing decisions at the weekend as they picked up their respective wins. City saw off Watford 3-1 at the Etihad while Liverpool came from behind to beat Burnley 4-2 at Anfield. City were on the wrong end of a couple of rough decisions in their match at Wolves early in the campaign. City went on to win the game, but would have arguably lost it had Kompany seen red in the first half. Assuming that decision cost Liverpool three points, they saw another couple go begging against Leicester in January.
