The struggling business hired Keith Hamill, 66, two years ago but the company announced yesterday that he will retire at the annual meeting. His departure follows the resignation in January of Gavin Darby, chief executive, who had been criticised by activist investors. Premier Foods was founded in 1975 as Hillsdown Holdings and is based in St Albans.
