Pregnant horse and foal die after being tipped off owner's truck 'to avoid vet bill'

Exhausted horse Cecilia was left unable to get up, but a landowner saw her plight and with volunteers from Happy Endings Rescue managed to get her on her feet and get her to a vet. Katie Snalune, director of Newnham Court Equine Clinic, which treated Cecilia, said they were seeing dumped horses on "a daily basis". (Image: Happy Endings Rescue/Triangle News)She explained how Cecilia had been brought into the clinic in Maidstone, Kent, on January 15 weighing only 185kg. "We continue to work alongside Happy Endings Rescue doing all we can to bring these poor animals back to health." Co-founder of Faversham-based Happy Endings, Chris Johns, said there was no way the mare could have walked to where she lay.
