He was accompanied by several Cabinet members, including Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripithak, Interior Minister Gen Anupong Paochinda and Agriculture Minister Chatchai Sarikalya. Troops and police were put on full alert during the visit. They were flown in an Army plane to the Banthon airport at 9:20 am and were transported to the Narathiwat Taskforce in an helicopter to avoid the using vehicles in the restive southern border province.
