In the meantime, he instructed the MRTA's board to draw up revenue-sharing proposals and other related criteria for use in negotiating with the Blue Line operator. Construction is well under way on extensions to both ends of the Blue Line, but a serious squabble over who will operate the network threatens to delay service. Following this, the MRTA is authorised to begin negotiating with the Blue Line operator to operate the extended routes and to amend the existing Blue Line operations contract to ensure management consistency and "thorough operations" of the rail service. The move is intended to prevent possible operational delays of the two Blue Line extensions -- the Bang Sue-Tha Phra route and the Hua Lamphong-Bang Khae route -- and to ensure "thorough operations" of the rail service. It is also expected to fix the one-kilometre Tao Pun-Bang Sue missing link when the 26km Purple Line opens, linking Nonthaburi and Bangkok.
