Speculation was rife that Yingluck might have fled after she failed to appear at the Supreme Court to hear the ruling in the rice-pledging case. It was also rumoured that the military might have had a role in her leaving the country. Prawit declined to comment on a report that a senior government official had helped Yingluck flee the country on Wednesday night. Prawit said if that information proved to be true, the official must be disciplined and face legal action. If the official were in the military, he’d be sacked immediately, Prawit added.
