MEERUT: Over six lakh workers have joined the Congress in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh over the last year, since the grand old party brought strategist Prashant Kishor on board, according to a source in the party.After Kishor was brought in, he asked Congress leaders to create booth-level committees for over 1.2 lakh booths across the 75 districts in the state, the source said.The party, which has received over 7,000 applications for tickets to 405 assembly seats, had asked potential candidates to "prove their worth" by enlisting new workers into its ranks. "The situation was so bad that we had started to lose workers in almost every district," a Congress leader said.
