New Delhi, Jan. 22: A suspect arrested for allegedly demanding ransom from the family of Najeeb Ahmed, the JNU student missing since a clash with ABVP activists in October, has described his action as a "prank". A member of Najeeb's family told The Telegraph that the caller had initially asked for Rs 20 lakh. The caller later said he was willing to reduce it to Rs 15 lakh," the family member said. The caller said Najeeb was elsewhere and once the ransom was handed over, he would be sent home. The court had accepted family's request for lie-detector tests on some ABVP activists who had allegedly hit Najeeb before his disappearance.
