Mr George denied that he had cheated after allegations he was involved in illegal bets related to the date of the general election last year. Montgomeryshire's Senedd member was one of 15 people who were charged as part of the election betting scandal along with former Montgomeryshire MP Craig Williams. In the circumstances, I feel I have no alternative but to withdraw my candidacy for next year’s Senedd elections so that I can focus on fighting to clear my name. The three will appear with 12 others at Westminster Magistrates Court at 10am on Friday 13 June 2025.
