Whakatane's in the dark this evening after a powercut which is affecting the whole township. A Horizon Networks spokesperson says the bulk of the Whakatane's had no power since about 6:30pm, and they have people working to fix it. The spokesperson couldn't give a timeframe for when the power will be back, or how many households are affected. Whakatane station 1XX is running on generator power after the cut briefly took it off-air. AdvertisementHorizon says a feeder fault is responsible for the outage.
