Power company 'gamed' $100M from Ontario's electricity system, investigation reveals


The company operating the Goreway Power Station in Brampton "gamed" the system for at least three years, according to an investigation by the provincial energy regulator. The excess payments to Goreway Power Station included:$89 million in ineligible expenses billed as the costs of firing up power production. Goreway Power Station, located near Highway 407 in Brampton, Ont., is an 875 megawatt natural gas power plant. Company fined $10MThe investigation covered a three-year period from when Goreway Power Station began generating power in June 2009.
