TOKYO — Early in the trip to Tokyo a handful of Raptors, including Norman Powell, Fred VanVleet and Stanley Johnson and team staffers got an authentic sumo wrestling experience. “The sumo thing was really cool, went over to see their practice and just learn about their daily life and how they go about preparing themselves to be professional, Powell told the Toronto Sun. Those guys look older, like 29, 30, but they’re 15-25 and they’re really big guys.”Powell even briefly squared off in proper sumo stance against one of the wrestlers, as did Johnson. Then the two Raptors squared off for a second. A jet-lagged VanVleet (the experience came nearly immediately after they got off the plane from Toronto) mostly watched.
