Pound Falls as U.K.’s Political Turmoil Grows

The British pound dropped Monday after weekend reports that several members of Parliament want Prime Minister Theresa May to resign, in the latest sign of turmoil in the British government. Sterling was down 0.8% against the U.S. dollar at $1.3064 at around midday in Europe, after beginning to decline in Asian trading hours. The pound has around 6% against the dollar in 2017, but remains down by more than 12% since the U.K. voted to leave the European Union in June 2016.
