more-inThe staff members at the Cuddalore Head Post Office have been instructed to issue postal debit cards on the request of pensioners and family pensioners. In response to a report ‘Delay in getting postal debit cards: pensioners’ that appeared on November 28 in The Hindu, Assistant Director (Business Development and Technology), Central Region TN Circle, Tiruchi, said rules do not prohibit issuing of debit cards to the pensioners and family pensioners drawing their pension through the postal saving accounts. Earlier, the audit team had instructed the postmaster that precaution has to be taken against excess drawal of pension through ATMs. However, this was misconstrued and the officials at Cuddalore HPO recently stopped issuing ATM cards to the pensioners. Action is also being taken against the erring officials.
