It is heartening to note the statement by National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin that the Federal Government is amenable to the initiative by the Sarawak and Selangor authorities to procure vaccines on their own. The minister said the vaccines would require the approval of the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency. Khairy, however, stated that the Selangor authorities have not yet officially written to the Federal Government about its plan. According to the latest update by the federal authorities, residents in Selangor are due to receive their vaccinations from April 26, and those in Kuala Lumpur from May. As both Selangor and Kuala Lumpur are highly-populated locations, I am sure the authorities are doing their best to ensure that the whole exercise will be conducted as efficiently as possible.
