Cristiano Ronaldo came closest to breaking the deadlock in Lisbon as Portugal and Spain drew 0-0 in the Jose Alvalade stadium. In front of around 2,500 spectators, Spain lined up with at least one Premier League player in each line of their starting XI. Leeds forward Rodrigo tested Portugal keeper Rui Patricio with a shot from distance early on, after Gerard Moreno had also been denied by Patricio from close range. He carried on from where he had left off at the restart, hammering the ball left footed on to Kepa's crossbar. The frame of the goal was shaken again shortly after and again Ronaldo was at the heart of the chance.
