The first thing we heard when we stepped out of the car was the distinct rumble of a helicopter above our heads. Our usual walk to the crowd was punctuated by police officers, horses or vans every 500 yards - and the entire city had an anomalous crackle in the air. The noise inside Fratton Park was expected to be deafening, but it was truly next level throughout proceedings. Ebou Adams may well be the best £500,000 that Pompey have spent in a very long time. Pompey have worked so hard to have days like this again and the fight now is to ensure this fixture is a mainstay.
