Susil Premajayantha, Attorney-at-Law, Minister of State for Educational Reforms, Open Universities and Distance Education Promotion, said that the financial affairs of the Port City are overseen by the Auditor General of Sri Lanka and therefore there is no room for its illegal financial activities and that the Port City is not a separate state concept but a part of Sri Lanka. He was speaking at a discussion organized by the National Development Media Center today (19) at the Government Information Department Auditorium. The Minister further said that an international arbitration center will be set up in the port city of Sri Lanka and that even the legal professionals in Sri Lanka would benefit from the construction of such a center to bring the arbitration laws of the region to Singapore. Through this the country has the potential to earn foreign exchange. When asked by the media whether local investors have the opportunity to participate in investment activities in the port city, the Minister said that there is room for local entrepreneurs who are doing foreign business or earning foreign currency.
