In part one of this article, I wrote how a focus on Population Health will support business models that invest in people by putting the unique needs and differences of those people at the center of their health and overall growth strategies. Yet what we fail to do when it comes to those strategies when it comes to Population Health, healthcare, and business overall is to link them to the significant demographic changes in the population, namely the Cultural Demographic Shift™ (CDS) and our aging populations. The economic and societal implications of these demographic shifts must compel leaders to shift their mindsets on Population Health —it must be at the forefront of the thinking and core of the value propositions of every organization in the future. This is why the latest discussions surrounding Population Health offer three critical lessons for the future of healthcare, business, and the country as a whole. There can be no argument that there’s a lack of culturally prepared healthcare providers and underrepresentation of shift populations across all functions and roles.
