★★★★☆This was the first time that Adam Ant had played the Albert Hall, which seems strange because in the early Eighties he was the biggest pop star on the planet. So this belated, buccaneering debut at the venue must have felt sweet, especially given that the Nineties and Noughties were considerably less kind to him. A sufferer of bipolar disorder, Ant was sectioned several times and involved in violent altercations, once threatening people in a pub with a starting pistol. Happily, at 62, those days look to be behind him; his condition is under control and he is enjoying a rich autumn to his career.
