Pool testing is a method where multiple samples are grouped into one mega sample and tested using the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method. The equipment, which were procured from Chengdu and Shanghai, China, will be distributed in Go Negosyo’s Project ARK-PCR pool testing hospitals and laboratory beneficiaries in Metro Manila. ARK refers to antibody rapid testing kits. “We have been through different types of testing such as rapid, PCR and now pool testing. “If you are in a high-prevalence area, or an area with so many cases, it won’t be efficient… as it defeats the purpose of pooled testing” Vergeire said.
