US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday denounced corruption in Angola, second leg of his current African tour. In Angola, an oil-rich country whose people remain impoverished, Pompeo met with President Joao Lourenco, who is making strides against corruption, including actions against close relatives of the former leader. “Here in Angola, damage from corruption is pretty clear,” Pompeo told a group of businessmen following his meeting with the President. That will rebound to the benefit of the American businesses for sure, but to the Angolan people for sure as well,” Pompeo said. After his African tour, Pompeo will travel to Saudi Arabia and Oman.
