Assam 's Hemanta Biswa Sarma is in-charge of north eastern states, Arun Singh in-charge of Odisha, Muralidhar Rao of Tamil Nadu and Siddharth Nath Singh of West Bengal and Andhra PradeshThein West Bengal, Kerala and Assam have generated hopes for BJP on improving the party's position in the states in 2019. While BJP wrested Assam from Congress , in Kerala it won its first seat ever. In Odisha, BJP is banking on "anti-incumbency" against BJD 's 16 year old rule. The party is hoping to cash in on the Centre's financial package for the ally TDP-ruled Andhra.Party sources said while the party would continue to focus on states where it has performed well in 2014, the leadership's emphasis was on strengthening the party in other regions. Shah also had a separate meeting with the core groups of states where BJP had done well in 2014, the agenda being how to retain those seats.
