The survey – based on data collected in 40 countries including Kenya and South Africa – was conducted in January and early February before the Covid-19 outbreak. It also draws from studies updated in April, at the height of the lockdown in many countries across the world. The report says global trends towards digital, mobile and paid media continue to grow, accelerated by the coronavirus pandemic. The politicians are more widely blamed in Brazil, the Philippines, the United States and South Africa.
