Francesca McDonagh has just presided over her first set of results since taking the helm at Bank of Ireland. She certainly didn’t do anything to make investors nervous in her first major engagement with the media and the wider market. Shares were down marginally yesterday, mostly on an unexpected fall in the bank’s net interest market for 2017. The NIM, which is a key indicator of profitability, softened over the second half of last year. The bank, however, is still going in the right direction.
