Politicians from all political divide have been urged to tame hate speech in the country that might emerge after the hotly contested General Elections. David Otach, Secretary General of Peace Mission Volunteers says that peace promotion is paramount for nation building and cohesion. “We are urging our leaders to desist from hate speech, because some voters are yet to heal after the people they voted for lost in the elections,” said Otach. Otach has in the meantime urged the newly elected president to help heal the nation by building a government of national unity. The August 9 elections saw a sharp rise in the number of hate speech messages on social media.
