A preliminary hearing has been set for next month for political strategist Nick Kouvalis who is facing a charge of break and entry. Kouvalis who has worked on campaigns for Mayor John Tory, former mayor Rob Ford and federal Conservative leadership candidate Kellie Leitch, did not appear in court on Wednesday. Derstine previously told the Star Kouvalis does not deny being at the bar that night, but does deny having criminal intent. He was chief strategist for Tory when he defeated Rob’s brother Doug Ford in 2014. Tory declined to comment about Kouvalis’ charge because it is before the courts, said spokesperson Don Peat Wednesday.
