The injured are Sub-Inspector (SI) Jahirul Islam of the Sadar police station and suspected robber, Sharif, reports UNB. Sensing the presence of police, the robbers opened fire on them. Police fired back in self-defence, triggering a gunfight. SI Jahirul and the robber were injured in the gunfight, said the OC, adding that both the injured were taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital.
